Home Quality Mark (HQM)

The Home Quality Mark (HQM) is a new standard for homes which provides consumers with the tools to make a decision when buying or renting a new home.

Whether you are thinking of buying or renting a brand new home or you are a developer then this service may be of particular interest to you.  Our surveyors are fully qualified to assess and score aspects of a new home and provide you with an overall HQM.

The HQM enables developers to differentiate their products to potential customers and decision makers to promote the benefits of a new home.

Research by the British Research Establishment (BRE) in partnership with Money Supermarket revealed:

97% of consumers would welcome a mark like HQM when buying or renting a new home
20% of consumers said they would pay more for a home with an independent label stating the properties sustainability features
Focus groups identified that homebuyers want more information that would empower them to make a decision when buying a new home.
Each property that undergoes an assessment will be issued with an overall score (out of 5 stars, 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest).  Whilst a five-star rating is challenging and aspirational to achieve, it is the equivalent to an outstanding rating in BREEAM.

Underneath the overall star rating, the assessment also provides a rating for how well the home performs.  This looks at three value indicators based on cost, wellbeing and footprint.
